Last tournament this year

We will playing in the OC Tournament of Champions this weekend. This is the last tournament that we have for this year. After that we will start our Christmas and New Year break. Practice will be resume next year.

Last league game of the season

We have our last league game today against United FC. We have 2 players sicks with one still injured. Luckily we were able to beat UFC 2-0. I am able to score the 1st goal from a corner kick. I will post the video once I got it.

2nd day of Nike Harvest Cup

On the 2nd day of the Nike Harvest tournament, we able to beat Cypress FC Premier 1-0 and tied Milan Red 0-0. With these result, we are able to qualify to final and meet Sherman Oaks Extreme tomorrow. Hopefully we will do good and win the championship.

Won both games today

WE beat SGVSC Premier (5-1) and Striker FC - South Coast (1-0) today. There are 2 more games tomorrow. If we win both of them, we will be playing final game on Sunday. I am happy today because I am playing with Manchester United shirt...Time to go to sleep..Good night..

2nd loss of the season

We received a bad news before the game started. Out main central defender was not able to play due to hip fracture. He will be out for 4-6 weeks. Hopefully he will recover soon and ready for the State Cup. Besides that, we have another player that broke his hand couple weeks ago.
Our opponent played a very physical game. Lots of them went in with high kick and elbow. The referee didn't do a good job and simply ignore it. One of our main midfielder had to sit out for almost whole game due to a slide tackle that caught his ankle. They even knocked me down couple times. They finally scored 5 minutes before the end of 2nd half due to a mistake that made by our defender.
We have a week of break next week due to Thanksgiving. Hopefully this gave our team some time to rest and get heal. I will guesting for FC Manu in a Nike Harvest Cup this weekend. I am kind of happy because I got to play in Manchest United jersey..

Lost today game..

We didn't do well after one week break. Our opponent had 2 fast and skillful forwarders that had out ran our defender today. At 1st half, we were already 4-0 down. At 2nd half, we tried half to come back but eventually lost the game 5-2. Hopefully this loss waked us up and train harder so that we can do good at the rest of the games.

Score a winning goal..

We played Pat MV Blue this morning at Vanguard Uni's field. It was big (standard size),  muddy and wet. Both team played ok and we were tied 1-1 in the half time. At 2nd half, we tried our best to dominate get a goal but was unsuccessful. 2 min toward the end of 2nd half, I scored from outside of penalty box. We were really happy and relief. Hopefully Mr. Tourville has a video of my goal. After the game, we all went to Blake's house to celebrate his birthday "happily"! Happy Birthday Blake!

We started very bad against CZ Elite. Within the 1st 10 minutes, we were 2-0 down and our main defender was injured. However, we were able to re-group and came back to tie the game 2-2. With our coach back, we were ready for our 2nd game against, San Gabriel Valley SC. Even though, we were missing our main forward (had to leave to attend a wedding) and main defender (injured), we were able to come out strong and scored 4 goals in the 1st half. However, we were a bit tired and still managed to defend to prevent any goal in 2nd half. We will continue our league game against Pat MV Blue this Saturday. Hopefully we can play hard and get a win!

Another win

We played OC Revolution today. They played very tough and packed their defense with only 1 forward. It was really hard to find a way to score until 2nd half. Nick able to use his speed to out run the defender and get us the 1st goal. I got knocked down twice to the ground by their defender. At the end, we were to beat them 3-0. Here is the video for last week:

We were able to beat WCFC team yesterday with a score of 1-0. We started up good and able to lead the 1st half with a goal. However, we started running out of gas at 2nd half. We were not able to get another goal with so many chances and eventually let our opponent to pressed against us at the end of 2nd half. We need to work harder and improved our stamina. More practice!

A really hot day..

Yesterday we travelled 69 miles to play TVSA Hawk. It was very hot, about 98 degree out there. The field was not in good condition. The grass was thick and muddy. We played good in the 1st half and lead the game 1-0. However, we ran out of gas in the 2nd half and eventually let them tied the game. Our goalkeeper, Peyton played excellent at the last 10 minutes to prevent us from losing the game. I finished all my water during the 1st half and had to got some from my friend. Dad took me to Walmart after the game to prevent me to get dehydrated. I think I need to be more prepare next time and bring more water just in case. Easy game today

We played Slammer FC this morning. Because they only have 9 players showed up, it helped us and made it a easy game.We were 7-0 ahead at half time and I scored 2. At 2nd half, our coach did not allow us to shoot. He made us passed the ball among ourselves until the last 5 min.We ended the game with 8-0 win. I will post the video once Mr. Tourville has it ready on youtube.

Tied our first game

We did not play good at our first game against Pateadores IRV. We didn't connect a lot of passes and missed a lot of chances to score. The game ended with 0-0 tie, with one goal disallowed by the referee. We are looking forward to our next game on Sunday against Pateadores YL. Hopefully we will do much better this time.

Here is the link for a youtube video for the highlight of our first 2 games at Strikers Cup. We scored total 8 goals against PSA Canyon and Downey FC.  Watch for my goal at 3:34. I also missed a header a 5:04. Thanks Mr. Tourville for the video. :)

Finalist..

We lost to LA Galaxy Academy in the final 4-1. It's a good lesson experience for us. We worked very hard and held them to 2-1 at the 1st half.  However, eventually we were running out of gas at the 2nd half. They scored 2 more goals at the end of the half. We know that we need to work harder, especially on improving our stamina. I think we improved a lot expecially playing with all these Gold level teams. We are more used to intensity of the game. I am looking forward for the season to start at the week of September 10th.

Qualify to the final!

We beat Downey FC 4-0 yesterday and tied Strikers FC-SC today 1-1. Because of the point differences, we qualify to the final. We will most likely meet LA Galaxy Academy this afternoon. I don't think we will win but will try hard not to allow too many goals.. It's time to relax in McDonald's again!

Won the 1st game

We won our first game against PSA Canyon, a CSL silver elite team 4-0. It's very hot today, almost 100 degree around noon time. We will have our next game at 6pm, playing DowneyFC. Dad and I are staying inside McDonald's right now. They offer free wifi.. We Stay cool and drink a lot of .... :)

Another tournament this week - Strikers Cup

We will have our last tournament for this summer. We will play in Strikers Cup. It's going to be a tough tournament as we have a gold team and a silver elite team in our group. Only the 1st place team qualify for the final round. I am looking forward for more challenge!

School start....

School start today. I am 7th grader now...

First Champion this year!!!

As I mentioned in myu previous post, we have been put in the weaker bracket. This actually help us out and outscored our opponents 22-1 to won this tournament. Well, I should said we scored all of them as I was the one that scored the only own goal... :(

We won 2-0 against OC Premier and 10-1 against OJSC Tigers on the 1st day. On the 2nd day, we beat SC United 4-0 and qualify to the final. In the final, we were able to held our opponent, Palmdale Thunder scoreless and beat them 6-0. We are able to work on our passing game and corner tricks during this tournament. Hopefully this will help us in our next tournament, Striker Cup this weekend.

Toyota of Orange Classic

We will playing in the Toyota of Orange Classic this weekend. It seems like the organizer put us in the weaker group. Well, it doesn't really matter. Hopefully we can take advantage of this and win a medal..We will playing SC United, OJSC Tigers and OC Premier. The winner of each group will be qualify to final and play for championship.

United Cup result..

It had been a tough tournament for us last weekend, playing Pateadores (Gold), United FC (Silver Elite) and Albion SC (Premeir team fron Presidio). We tied our first game playing Pateadores with a result 1-1. At our 2nd game, we were 2-0 up but made couple silly mistakes to allow Albion to come back and tied us. We played our 3rd game on Sunday against United FC. We played a very good 1st half with 1-1. However, the ref made 2 bad calls and allowed them to score 2 early in the 2nd half. I think that really caught us and we lost our momentum after that. They scored 2 more at last 5 minutes of the game. It was very good experience for us to challenge all these top level teams. We need to play and train harder so that we can match up with them.. We will play in Toyota of Orange Classic tournament at Aug 20-21. Hopefully we will do better next time!

Getting my new cleats!

I finally got my Nike CTR360 Trequartista II yesterday. I am currently wearing Adidas F50 Adizero that my dad gave me last Christmas. Now I am outgrown it and start getting blisters on couple of my toes. My dad decided to shop around and finally get this for me for only $55, retail $90. It's size 12. I am going to wear it for practices and also the tournament this week. May be it will help me to score some goals. ;)

United Cup (Aug 6-8)

We will meet Arsenal FC (Silver Elite), Pateadores (Gold) and Central CA Blues (probably equal to a top silver elite team). There are total 3 brackets and only top team of each bracket and a wild card team qualify for the semi-final. It's going to be a very tough tournament for us. Hopefully we will work hard and give the rest of the teams in our a group a real fight!

2nd days of PSA tournament

We did better today at our first game but couple bad calls from the referee caused us to goals early in the game. We tried to come back but our defense were not strong enough and eventually we lost 4-2 to Celtic. I did scored one goal at this game. At the 2nd game, we have majority of the possessions but couldn't get a goal at the 1st half. We tried harder at 2nd half and eventually get one. However, our defense made a mistake at the last minute and PSA Canyon able to score and tied the game.  Anyway, this is the 1st tournament that we have after coming back from break and we missed couple starters. Our next tournament will be United Cup at August 6-7. We need to train harder these 2 weeks and prepare for it.

Bad day

We didn't do good at our first day. We lost our first game 2-0 against Exiles Black, a Gold team last season. At our 2nd game, we played Cosmo Academy and lost to them 4-1. My knee still hurt especially at the 2nd game. I need to take a good rest and try hard tomorrow. Hopefully we can get a win.

PSA Canyon Invitational

After a month of break and few lite training sessions, we have resume our soccer life by joining PSA Canyon Invitational tournament this weekend. We will have 2 games on Saturday and the 1st and 2nd place teams will qualify to semi final on Sunday. I still have pain on my knee. Hopefully I can last and stay strong.

Legends Classic next weekend

We will have our 1st tournament for this year at June 4-5. Compare to last year roster, we had lost 4 returning players. We are able to find 1 replacement and our current team has 14 players. We will playing Exiles Black (Gold), LA Galaxy Academy and SDSC. Only the 1st place team qualify to next round. I don't think we will qualify as Exiles is a gold team. Galaxy academy has all the best players around the area as they offer free soccer. We don't know much about SDSC and hopefully we can beat them to stay away from last place.

Train with Thierry Henry this Sunday

NY Red Bull MLS team sponsored a train with "Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez" soccer camp this Sunday at LA. It's opened for anyone between 12-17 years old. A lottery system will be used to pick the lucky ones that will train with these soccer stars. Dad registered me on Tuesday and we received an email this evening that I am one of the lucky ones. :)

I used to support Arsenal and Thierry was my favorites. Since then, he had play for Barcelona and now NY Red Bull. I am very excited to get picked for this free soccer camp. I am looking forward to meet Thierry and learn from him..

He played for Gold division champion, LA Samba last year. We played them last year in Legends Cup and lost to them 11-0. Playing for Barcelona is a dream. Hopefully I can do that one day. 

Playing against our parents

We have a friendly futsal game playing against our team parent yesterday. It's a very good game and we have a lot of fun. We ended up winning the game 6-4. I am looking forward for more scrmimage against our team parents in future.

Getting my number back...

Our team manager emailed us today regarding our new uniform and number for each player. I have to wear #17 last year because of the chaos after the merger. I finally got my number #10 back!! Yes!

Accept for the U12 team

 I received an offered email last weekend  indicated that I have been selected for the U12 team this year. I am not sure who else that got selected. The tryout will continue this week for people that got call back. Registration night will be this Wednesday. Hopefully I will find out who is my teammates for this season.
BTW, my knee was hurt recently. Mom took me to see the doctor and had a x-ray last Friday. I am still waiting for the result. The doctor said it could be due to the "growing pain." I will post once I got more info.

New League..

It looks like we will playing in a new league this season. It's called So Cal Development League (http://www.socaldevelopmentleague.com/). There are total 20 clubs leaving current Coast Soccer League and create this new one.

Tryout Date

We are going to have tryout next Monday and Wednesday, Feb 28 and March 2. Hopefully we can get some good players and build a strong team this year.

Back to Legends FC

Dad went to the parent meeting yesterday and confirmed that we will be back to Legends FC this season. Tryouts will be held at the end of this month. Hopefully we can recruit some good players to move forward...

State Cup ended at round 16..

We played very bad and lost 1-2 at round 16. That's for this season. However, I scored 3 goals during the state cup. Hopefully I will continue to improve my shooting skill. BTW, It looks like we may go back to Legends FC again next season.I will post when it's confirmed. At the mean time, the tryout for next season will start on March...

Pass the 1st round...

We won 2 games and tie one of them last weekend. We only qualify as 2nd place team because of the goal differences. We will meet RFC Milan this Saturday at round 32. If we win, we will play round 16 in the afternoon. Wish us luck on our journey!

State Cup 1st round this week

We will travel to Lancaster this weekend for the State Cup 1st round. It's about 92 miles away from our home. We will play 3 games and the top 2 teams with 8 wildcard teams will qualify to next round. Our opponents will be Arsenal FC-S Red,  Saddleback United Warriors, and C. C. Condors

Good lessons for us

We lost both games on sunday. 11-0 against U11 champion and 5-0 against another U12 teams. I think it's a great lesson for us. We need to work harder to prepare for the State Cup which start at the end of January..

Lost our 1st game against Surf

We met Surf (U12) team this afternoon. All their players were much bigger than us. The tallest one was around 6'. It's tough to defend a team with big and strong kids. Majority of their goals were from the header. At the end, we lost 1-6 against them. However, we will able to give them a surprise early at the game and scored at 1:30 after the game started. We will able to hold them about 20 minutes until they scored to tie the game. We will play U11 Gold champion tomorrow morning at 8am. We need to work harder and see whether we can get a tie.Go to bed early tonight...

Legends Cup this week...

We will be playing up this week against U12 teams. I think it's because there is not enough U11 teams joining this tournament. We will be facing 2 - U12 teams and a U11 team - LA Samba. They are all very very good team. The U11 team is the current Gold Champion. We will probably get beat pretty bad this weekend. Hopefully my teammates and me will work hard and fight against these good teams.

Practice resume...

Practice resumed yesterday. After the practice, we all received our assessment for the past season. The comments that I got from the coach was that "I'd like to see Joseph get his fitness up so he can run all over the field and be an enforcer out there with his size. He is very good on the ball when he stays strong." Dad laughed at me and said "I told you!" I think I need to work harder and eat more to build up my fitness....
